Pharmaceutical Chemistry Lab

The Pharmaceutical Chemistry Lab at Shri Ram College of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences (SRCPMS) is designed to provide students with in-depth knowledge and practical exposure in drug synthesis, chemical analysis, and quality control of pharmaceutical compounds. This lab serves as a foundation for understanding medicinal chemistry, enabling students to explore drug design, chemical interactions, and analytical techniques essential for the pharmaceutical industry.

Key Features:

⚗️Drug Synthesis & Medicinal Chemistry – Students learn about the synthesis and chemical properties of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). They gain hands-on experience in the design, development, and optimization of medicinal compounds used in drug formulations.

🔬Qualitative & Quantitative Chemical Analysis – The lab is equipped with modern analytical instruments to test the purity, stability, and efficacy of pharmaceutical substances. Students perform:
• Titrimetric Analysis (Acid-base, Redox, Complexometric)
• Chromatographic Techniques (Thin Layer Chromatography - TLC, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography - HPLC)
• Spectroscopic Analysis (UV-Vis Spectrophotometry)

🧪Pharmaceutical Quality Control – Students learn methods to assess drug quality, including identification of impurities, stability testing, and standardization of pharmaceutical products in compliance with pharmacopeial standards (IP, BP, USP, EP).

⚡Organic & Inorganic Chemistry Applications – The lab provides extensive training in organic reaction mechanisms, drug degradation pathways, and metabolism studies. Students explore the role of metal ions in drug formulations and conduct experiments on buffer solutions, pH determination, and solubility studies.

💊Biochemical & Toxicological Testing – Students analyzedrug-receptor interactions, enzyme kinetics, and biochemical pathways to understand mechanisms of drug action, metabolism, and potential toxic effects.

The Pharmaceutical Chemistry Lab at SRCPMS plays a crucial role in shaping future pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists, ensuring they gain expertise in chemical drug formulation, analytical techniques, and quality assurance, which are vital for research, development, and regulatory compliance in the pharmaceutical industry
